Flamingo
Flamingos (or flamingoes〔Both forms of the plural are attested, according to the ''Oxford English Dictionary''〕) are a type of wading bird in the family Phoenicopteridae. There are four flamingo species in the Americas and two species in Afro-Eurasia. Often, they are pink in colour. == Etymology == ''Flamingo'' comes from Spanish ''flamengo'',〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Flamenco, RAE )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Flamingo, Oxford Dictionary )〕 in turn coming from Provençal ''flamenc'' from ''flama'' "flame" and Germanic-like suffix ''-ing'', with a possible influence of words like ''Fleming''. A similar etymology has the Latinate Greek term ''Phoenicopterus'' (from (ギリシア語:φοινικόπτερος) ''phoinikopteros''), literally "blood-red-feathered".〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Online Etymology Dictionary )〕
